Vintage Brazilian Lusterware Elephant in Basket #1906

Whimsical vintage ceramic elephant nestled inside a molded basket, complete with a jaunty top hat and wonderfully expressive face. The elephant's raised trunk becomes part of the oversized basket handle, creating an especially charming sculptural design.

Finished in warm cream and caramel tones with an iridescent luster glaze that flashes subtle pinks and purples in the light. Molded basket-weave, quilted blanket and rope details add plenty of texture.

Marked MADE IN BRAZIL on the underside with model/design number 1906. The 1906 marking is a model number, not the year of manufacture; matching pieces are consistently identified by that number in current listings.

Condition: Good vintage condition with visible age-related wear. Your photos show areas of glaze/finish loss, particularly along the upper basket handle, as well as smaller surface marks and wear.
